  10. SPEECH is a program which generates speech and makes it possible for you
  11. computer to actually speak to you through its internal speaker.  SPEECH 
  12. a "terminate and stay resident" program which becomes available as a    
  13. background function, usable by other programs.  An additional program is
  14. included, SAY, which passes its command line arguments to the SPEECH    
  15. function, thus allowing batch files to generate speech.                 
  16.                                                                         
  17. SPEECH supports thirty six phonemes, which are specified as one of two  
  18. character codes, such as, a, ae, ah, b, ch, etc.  Phonemes may be given 
  19. either upper or lower case.  Phonemes are separated with a dash and word
  20. are separated with a space.  For example, to say "this is a test", you  
  21. would type; say tz-ih-s ih-z ah t-eh-s-t-t.  This disk gives examples of
  22. how to say the cardinal numbers, the ordinal numbers, the letters of the
  23. alphabet, and over fifty different words.

  25. SPEECH is easy to use, comes fully documented, and can teach your comput
  26. to talk like a parrot.  AT and 386 users will need to slow their compute
  27. down to about 7.5 MHz in order to be able to understand the computer    
  28. voice.
